I've been doing some more research, and it looks like the fd being used to signal back to the master process is not connected to the pipe it's supposed to be. It's connected to /var/imap/db/log.0000000001. There are some Ctrl-Bs in there, which I assume are the 2s that it's trying to send to the master process. I don't know if this is an OS issue or a Cyrus issue, so if folks would continue to look at it (if you already were :-), I'd appreciate it. -Bitt
