sorry about not finishing the previous message. i have a very crude interface to sending mail right now. i wanted to say that when i run imapd from the command line it seems to start ok but eventualy dies with the aforementioned error. if i telnet to port 143 i connect but i never get any output after the initial Connected.. and Escape char... lines. if i try to use imtest the command fails with this error message: C: C01 CAPABILITY failure: prot layer failure thanks again. <d/>
