Rob,

We are well aware of this possible scenario. We only keep a 1 month
rotation of backups, and we only provide tapes with a written subpoena.
The backups are only made for disaster recovery (the server dies or
important faculty/staff info is lost). 

I don't understand this "embroiled in litigation". If we get a subpoena,
they get the tapes.
