Is the "RENAME" extension for moving a mailbox from one partition to
another safe to use in a live system? (There may well be mail delivered to
the mailbox and user access to the mailbox while the move is going on). This
capability is essential to manage storage for the mail server, and I don't
need to point out that taking the server down is not an option for a high
availability system!
Obviously care has been taken to ensure that Cyrus handles concurrent
updates correctly for the standard IMAP commands, but this is not a standard
command so I don't like to make too many assumptions. I know the question
has been asked before, but I've yet to see a definitive answer in the
archive from the developers.
Thanks, John.
