The upgrade notes should (but maybe don't) say to create these directories 
all at once, so you don't run into this problem.

Authorization issues are still handled internally to the Cyrus imapd 
package.  At some point, we'd be interested in making an authorization 
library (or using someone's else).

Unfortunately, the only authorization modules implemented are auth_unix, 
auth_krb, and auth_krb_pts.  auth_unix deals with /etc/group, and auth_krb 
and auth_krb_pts are Kerberos and AFS respectively.  Nothing has been 
implemented in the way of sasldb groups.
