Hi Tom, UUUUUHHHH, now THAT makes perfect sense.
You can basically override the MX, but for OUTGOING delivery only? Yes, that is the key piece of information that didn't jump out at me when I read the announcement, or the online help, or the manual... No wonder that I can't get domain routing to work... Thanks for taking the time and clarifying it for me (and hopefully your technical writers, who probably didn't understand what they were documenting, either). PS: I'm glad to see that Imail is now adding features that are specific to a single customer <G>. Maybe there is hope that we'll eventually see Imail to envelope rejections and some basic improvements to the list server that would benefit ALL customers... (Hint, Hint...) Best Regards, Andy Schmidt -----Original Message----- From: "Tom Lewis" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: RE: [IMail Forum] Anyone got Domain Forwarding to Work? Date: Mon, 20 Oct 2008 15:49:34 -0400 Reply-To: [email protected] Andy, The purpose of Domain Forwarding is to forward outgoing mail for a specific domain. Our decision to add the feature was for a specific scenario where a customer wanted to forward email to a fax service. The email would be sent to a domain in the format of phonenumber.domain.com. They set up a domain forwarding of *.domain.com to an IP Address of a fax service. When the email was received by the fax service, the phone number was extracted from the destination domain name and used to forward the message to the fax machine. So, that's how it's used in one scenario. The important point to remember is that this is only for outgoing mail. It is only used on remote delivery of mail. If the mail is destined for local delivery, Domain Forwarding is ignored. Hope this helps and answers your questions. I'll see if we can get the documentation to be a little more clear on this.
