Saturday commenced with light South-West winds, 7 gusting to 11 mph,
oscillating back and firth between South and South-West. As the day
went on, the winds built, and at its peak there were gusts to about 12
mph. It was a cooler day, especially when the wind was up, about 65-70
degrees. The first race signal was at 9:36 am, with racing going all
day until 5:35. It was a long but very rewarding day for the 17 420s
we had on the water all day; we completed 8 races in each division.
After Saturday Wisco is in first and second, with Notre Dame and
Minnesota close behind.

Sunday was another great day of sailing in Madison. The day started
with a light 4 knot breeze out of the southeast. As the day
progressed, the wind velocity fluctuated as it slowly revolved 270
degrees, and by the last race the wind was coming out of the
Northeast, at 9 knots. The sailors ventured out onto the water in 55
degree weather as it rained throughout the morning. We were able to
fit 4 races in each division, completing the last start just within
the time limit. Overall, we finished 12 races in each division, and
Wisconsin Coed won the regatta with Minnesota and Wisconsin Women's
close behind, respectively. Although the conditions this weekend were
frustrating at times, sailors came out of it with a plethora of new
experience sailing in shifty, variable winds. Thank you to PRO Nicole
Coleman, and Judge George Griswald for coming out and helping with the
event!
