2010 Nevins Trophy US Merchant Marine Academy September 18-19, 2010 Saturday: Sailing began in a 5-7 knot Northeasterly with a slack current. Six races were sailed before a brief lunch break ashore while the wind clocked around to the Southeast. One B-division race was completed in the dying Southeasterly before the current overcame the wind. Racing concluded for the day at 4:15 PM. One protest was filed resulting in a DSQ in race 4B.
Sunday: The forecast was not very good for Sunday and proved to be quite accurate. No substantial breeze ever filled for more than 5 minutes, causing the RC to postpone ashore at noon. At 12:45 racing was abandoned for the day with all nearby weather stations concluding that there was little hope of any breeze before 4:00. Many thanks to the Midshipmen of Kings Point who ran a great event in trying conditions. Congratulations to the Harvard Crimson for winning the 2010 Nevins Trophy!
