The first day of racing at Georgetown saw light winds but very close racing. One complete round robin was sailed with a single sail-off to determine who would be in the top 4. With the addition of motorboats from the Potomac River Sailing Association we were able to use a limited umpiring system with coaches from each team serving as umpires. This system worked very well and after 29 races only one protest was filed. Coaches were advised by Chief Judge Peter Johns who umpired along with the coaches on the water.. The first seven races were sailed on the Potomac River. The southerly in the river died by noon and after a postponement on land the racing resumed in the Washington Sailing Marina Lagoon. Winds for races 8-28 were SW at 5-10mph and shifty.
