Like most software, Icinga 2 also relies on system libraries such as OpenSSL for encryption and authentication purposes. If you have a really old and vulnerable version of a library on your system that won't be patched because the system is out of support, there's not that much Icinga 2 can do against others exploiting its weaknesses.
