You are correct. Although a filesystem/library supporting >2GB files is of course the first prerequisite, appropriate support at the Berkeley DB level is also required. Such support is missing from 3.1.x.

At the moment I re-index my server list and am really hopeful to be able to
create
a database exceeding this limit, if I understood Geoff right ?!
It would be necessary to move to a 3.2 beta in order to generate databases exceeding 2 GB. The effort involved in back porting such support to 3.1.x is prohibitive.
