Using something like

CXXFLAGS=-Wno-deprecated CPPFLAGS=-Wno-deprecated ./configure

without any patches or other source modifications seems to be working for a lot of people. I am not aware of any existing patches or simple source modifications that solve the problems associated with configuring and building under GCC 3.
