Hello, I am trying to install an Officejet Pro K550 on my Gentoo box. I have installed the following packages:
foomatic-filters-3.0.20060720 foomatic-db-ppds-20060720 foomatic-db-engine-3.0.20060720 foomatic-filters-ppds-20060720 foomatic-db-20060720 ghostscript-gpl-8.54 hplip-1.6.10 cups-1.2.9 I have set up the printer in cups, but when I print a test page the first few centimeters are ok, then there is a large gap of missing print, then it is a little garbled but mostly recognizable. There are a few more blank patches on the page, and then it goes on to a new page to print out the last few centimeters about 3/4 of the way down. When using hp-toolbox to print the diagnostics page the output is fine. But the toolbox's test page has an image (might be of fruit?) and that gets split up into a few millimeters a page so starts getting through my paper really quickly. I have always canceled that test page after about 7 sheets have all been ruined with a tiny fragment of image. In short the printer is mostly working but absolutely useless. Does anyone have any ideas of what could be causing these problems? I have tried the ppd found at http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=HP-OfficeJet_Pro_K550 but the results are the same. It was also the same with ghostscript-esp. Many thanks in advance, James ____________________________________________________________________________________Luggage? GPS? Comic books? Check out fitting gifts for grads at Yahoo!
