Dear HPLIP-Help, I have been trying to scan some old 35mm slides using my new HP Photosmart C7180 AIO. Unfortunately it seems that I can not scan slides or negatives in Linux.
I can scan slides directly to memory cards without computer (I press the Film button and select Scan to Memory Device). I can also scan slides in Windows XP. If I open the lid during the scan I can see the lamp under the lid is on. When I use linux (Ubuntu 7.04) and xsane that lamp stays off. Normal flatbed scanning works without problems. I believe the reason for this is that there is only one scan source option (Flatbed) in xsane, xscanimage, kooka and other scanning programs I have tried. I think there should be also a second scan source option, something like Transparency or Film. Is this a HPLIP problem, sane problem, xsane problem or something else? I hope this will be fixed soon. -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML.
