Hello,
why do you need hplip version 1.7.4? There is a version of hplip available for
different platforms on debian etch, i have installed etch on a sun sparc
machine and a dell ix86 based notebook.
what printer do you have? maybe you don�t need hplip at all. cups or turboprint
covers a lot of hp printers. cups also comes with etch, turbint is available
for download at www.turboprint.de (there is also a list of supported devices
available).
