You should be able to do this with HPLIP using something like:

hp-sendfax -n -f <number> <file list>

See hp-sendfax --help for more info.

If you have problems, please re-post.

I could not send fax with my HP OJ 5110
SuSE 10.2, hplip-1.7.3 rpm, hplip-hpijs-1.7.3 rpm

Yet I have download capisuite 0.5 (with faxgate),
using it with ISDN and avm-fxusb, capi 2.0.

With capisuite I can send and receive faxes

1) Out of KDE with KdeprintFax, command
/usr/bin/capisuitefax -q -d %number %files

2) Out of StarOffice/OpenOffice
with a new faxprinter (spadmin), command
/usr/bin/capisuitefax -q -d "(PHONE)" "(TMP)"

3) from the console with
capisuitefax -d %number % files

4) Receiving over HP OfficeJet 5110,
print out on DIN A4
(without tif- or sff-file)

If my PC or the printer is out/off,
I get the fax after starting the PC/printer new.

More in the FAQ of capisuite
(faxgate is for cups, analogical gw4capisuite)

Now all is fine

Kind Regards
Arno
