Yes, HPLIP supports A4, Letter and a wide range of other paper sizes.

Dear Friends,
As novice Linux users (for a small non-profit), we have faced all sorts
of printer problems with a Lexmark printer that had a linux driver but
didn't support A4 paper.
We try to do it right this time and look to a Hp laser. Does HPLIP
support A4 paper as well as Letter etc in the US?
