Can you run:
hp-sendfax --gg
and post the output?

I am using the Suse ver 10.0 on my PC, also HP Office Jet V40 for the
all-in-one functionality. First I got problem using it then after
searching the net I found out the HPLIP project. Then I installed the
HPLIP ver 1.7.1. Now the Printer and Scanner both are working
absolutely fine using the hp-toolbox command. But I am having problem
with Fax.
When I try to open the Fax concole it gives me error.
restart the CUPS service
(or use hp-setup)
I had tried both several times but all in vain. Please help me out in
this issue.
