This is because the script is installing postfix as one of the dependencies.
But during the postfix installation via dpkg, the installer asks for input via
some terminal windowing interface. But hplip installer seems to hide these input
screens and so the programs waits forever.
solution is to install the depencies manual and then start the hplip installer.
Just follow the first instructions of manual install on the hplip home pages for
the apt-get command that fixes all dependencies; then you can go on with hplip
installer.
