The Students at Portmarnock Community School have come up with a novel idea to raise funds for their charitable and developmental endeavours in Lesotho and this is to spend an entire 24 hours doing #MapLesotho, having already gathered sponsors for the endeavour.
Last year Anbhu, Colin and Oliver really mastered mapping on openstreetmap and are now demonstrating it to the fourth year group on a peer basis. These students have already had introductory sessions using the LearnOsm template, and tomorrow is the opportunity for them to map for a longer session. The group who are mapping will be travelling to Lesotho in February 2016 to hopefully put the finishing touches on a computer lab for the pupils at Ha Hlalele School, and of course (!) start teaching openstreetmap. The Mapathon kicks off at 08.00 GMT Friday and runs until 0800 GMT Saturday. Big cheers using the #MapLesotho hashtag as they begin and end their work validating on http://tasks.hotosm.org/project/1169#. Can you help out? You can validate, or hoover up invalidated tiles with fixes.
