Hi everyone,

We currently have two versions of the out-of-copyright Ordinance Survey maps
available, those on ooc.openstreetmap.org <http://ooc.openstreetmap.org/> and
those made available by the National Library of Scotland. The Scottish maps are
better; the initial scans of 1:25k in the OSM set (by Blackadder) were mainly
from folded maps on small scanners, rather than from archival quality flat
sheets. The NLS also often has more maps than we do.

There are interesting tiny differences in the prints. You can compare layers at
https://openstreetmap.lu/os-ooc-nls.html
<https://openstreetmap.lu/os-ooc-nls.html>.

I will be retiring the ooc.openstreetmap.org <http://ooc.openstreetmap.org/>
layers from both the JOSM Maps database and the Editor Layer Index used by
other editors next week if there are no objections. I’ve already noticed that
the London NE sheet on the NLS OS NPE is wrong, and have notified the NLS.

Thank you for your feedback,

Guillaume
