The proposal is interesting, but the basic question is: does lbzip2 offer the same functionality as bzip2? If so, why would one bother to have both bzip2 and lbzip2 on his box? Instead, one can simply remove the former and make a symlink lbzip2-> bzip2. In that case no changes are necessary at all. What do you think? Regards, Sergey
