Nico, I'm not aware of any previous discussion around utilizing source maps within LibreJS.
As you may have seen on our mailing lists, we are currently in the process of rethinking LibreJS from first principles and reimplementing its behavior using the WebExtension APIs. I will make sure that your suggestion makes it into the discussion as is appropriately evaluated.
