I can't remember that we recently changed libidn2.pc.in.
The current libidn2.pc.in looks like:
prefix=@prefix@
exec_prefix=@exec_prefix@
includedir=@includedir@
libdir=@libdir@
Name: libidn2
Description: Library implementing IDNA2008 and TR46
Version: @PACKAGE_VERSION@
Cflags: -I${includedir}
Libs: -L${libdir} -lidn2
Libs.private: @LTLIBICONV@ @LTLIBUNISTRING@
How does the -R come into your .pc file ?
