"cd <project>" is required.

Usually, it exists in the project root directory.
Why don't you invoke gtags simply as follows?
Sorry if Question (2) was not clear. Question (2) is about global, not
about gtags. To recap from previous email:
Data base for project_1 is at <dbpath>/prj_1/
Data base for project_2 is at <dbpath>/prj_2/
Source for project_1 is at <first_path>/prj1
Source for project_2 is at <some_other_totally_different_path>/prj_2
Inside one gvim, do ":cd <first_path>/prj1"
Inside other gvim, do ":cd <some_other_totally_different_path>/prj_2"
Now how to use global for the two projects from gvim?
Thanks,
