Type in 1000000 to overwrite the figure that is there, you don't just have to select the dropdown, but if your Mac can't handle 8Msps then I suspect it is either too low powered for the job or running too much else in the background. Try running a system monitor to look at cpu load when running gqrx. That will give you a good idea if the problem is cpu limit related. On my pc (which is in a tower case) if the cpu heatsink/fan assembly gets too full of dust then the cpu will not run up to full speed because it overheats. This concequently limits the throughput of gqrx.
