Worst case, buy a small heatsink to mount on the chip Date: Thu, 5 Mar 2015 08:54:33 -0500 From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: [Hackrf-dev] DOA HackRF - Overheating power supply chip resetting hackrf
After long wait for the availability of HackRF I ordered a one from NooElec and received it last week. Unfortunately the unit I received getting restarted ever 3-5 minutes. With further observations I noticed the power supply chip is overheating to a point I can not touch it after 2-3 minutes. This happens with Gnuradio as well as with gqrx. Also I verified the firmware and CPLD is upto date. The error message I get is as follows and its not conclusive gr-osmosdr v0.1.4-7-g20fd6a8c (0.1.5git) gnuradio 3.7.5.1built-in source types: file osmosdr fcd rtl rtl_tcp uhd hackrf bladerf rfspace Using HackRF One with firmware 2014.08.1 OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOterminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::runtime_error' what(): Failed to stop RX streaming (-1000) HACKRF_ERROR_LIBUSBAborted (core dumped) I reached out to NooElec to return this unit since their website states they accept "no questions asked returns" for the first 30 days. But apparently for the hackrf they have to wait for instruction from the manufacturer and they have not responded yet. So in the mean time I want to check if there is anyone else experiencing similar problems or any suggestions to try Primesh _______________________________________________ HackRF-dev mailing list [email protected] https://pairlist9.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/hackrf-dev
