For stains, I soak overnight in Oxyclean. Always works for me. We're in the process of sorting, washing-musty-out, and re-packing the fabric stash and have discovered about 5 pieces of mostly-white, mostly-linen that has a FEW, random pink and/or blue-y/black-y spots. We've only really noticed this tonite. Doesn't seem to be occuring on the white cottons (I think). I'm planning to pre-treat with Clorox2, and then cold-launder with Clorox2. Have just had real good luck with that with a cotton bra that got a raspberry down it all day 8-).... which stain started pinkish, and then turned sort of blackberry dark blue/black as I tried to wash it out.
