Hi Mop?

This is quite hard to do, just ask David Peterson, he has an app already
which does this! Its name is "extended Dictionary".

The description of the app is below:

" This package intends to replace and extend the built-in Exceptions
dictionary of Window-Eyes. It has been developed, based on a number of user
requests, for enhanced features. The package will let you define a separate
exception dictionary for each synthetic voice, installed on your computer.
It further offers for you to have individual dictionaries for any software
running on your computer. You can replace just about any text, either with a
text or character of your choice, or even with a sound clip.Comes with a
thorough User's Guide, holding more than 50 chapters. Includes several
hundred predefined entries."

<climbing on soapbox warning>

I'm a little disappointed that he chose to publish it encrypted, and so has
everything which has come from GW lately; this (in my opinion), has a truly
discouraging effect on other script writers who need examples of more
advanced techniques. Also, there's something of a debt owed by each current
scripter (who probably learned from the examples of others); and GW, do you
want WE to have a continuing supply of new apps which do more than the
simplest of tasks?
(It's understandable if you're trying to make money from an app, or trying
to preserve the techniques of the app for WE users only, but I have a
feeling this is being trotted out a little too often).

<climbing down off soapbox now>

I suggest you empty your Window-Eyes dictionary by renaming the file which
contains it, before you install the Extended Dictionary app; this app tries
to incorporate your dictionary entries into its own dictionary during
installation, and this process has some unwanted side effects. Otherwise,
it's an amazingly flexible and complex approach to the dictionary problem of
all synthetic speech. You do have to spend some time reading its
documentation before you ever start to use it; it's complex, and you can get
your speech really messed up in a hurry if you aren't paying attention to
the warning about emptying your WE dictionary first, and reading the app
docs.

Hth,

Chip
