$ groff --version GNU groff version 1.23.0
$ echo .pfp | groff -T ps $ So no fonts installed, I guess. Reading UnixTextProcessing.pdf¹ gives only a glancing reference to groff pseudofonts. An initial scan of "man grops", yielding the "FONT INSTALLATION" section fleetingly looked promising. But it warbles about conversion, rather than mentioning anything about installation: Where some might be found, and where they should be decanted to be available to groff. Thus groff font installation is attractive, but inscrutably elusive so far. Is there something illuminating that one might read? $ man -k fonts reveals pdffonts, but that only lists fonts used in a pdf. Ah: $ fc-list | wc -l 461 Now, if there is information somewhere on whether these might be "installed" by an as-yet unelucidated means, I could get up on the horse - or it'd at least help me catch the beast's tail. (Googling has yet to yield a descriptive document.) Erik ¹ UnixTextProcessing.pdf was great for developing a useful level of tbl competence, but it doesn't cover fonts.
