Hi Paul, No, it doesn't. If PDF/A compliancy is a concern, you could try rendering to PostScript and using a program like GhostScript or Adobe Distiller to generate a PDF (which may or may not have an option to generate PDF/A-compliant documents).
There are also multiple levels of conformance (PDF/A-1, PDF/UA, PDF/A-2, and PDF/A-3), and it's unclear which of them you're referring to.
