I think that's just the difference between a man page, which was intended to be a concise explanation, and a paper that introduces or explains something, like those that accompanied Unix editions, or groff's info page. man pages that are contain too much noise lessen their value, increasing the number of people that never read them all the way through, and give more false hits on searching. -- Cheers, Ralph. https://plus.google.com/+RalphCorderoy
