Yes. It's a terrible idea. Convert is ImageMagick, a pixel-oriented set of tools. It converts your PS or PDF into a raster image (and the default resolution is not particulartly high) so you lose all the scalability of a vector format such as PS or PDF. Once the damage is done, you can't undo it.
