I had a look at index.tmac. Where you wonder if you can switch to column mode, the answer is yes. COLUMNS can precede any invocation of START, which you need to set the index anyway. In mom, all major document sections, ie chapters, endnotes, bibliographies, and tables of contents, require START. -- Peter Schaffter http://www.schaffter.ca
