Why not? I find it quite convenient to use for my own project
(ttfautohint).
If it works for you, great. My experience has been that it creates more
problems than it solves; indeed, I have a hard time understanding what
problem it actually does solve.
groff already has a comprehensive Makefile system, which does not depend
on automake; why jeopardise it to migrate to something with nothing
better to offer?
