A few months ago I requested information form the list on converting
and installing new fonts (specifically to get male and female
symbols).

Thanks to everyone who gave good advice, which is now I see recoreded
in the groff wiki.

One of the fonts I installed and now use is ESS13, a cursive font I
use instead of Zapf Chancery sometimes. I note however that there is
no detailed kerning with the font -- by eye, and after examining the
ESS13 file I've installed in devps. So I thought I could just copy
the kerning details from the ZCMI file and drop them into the ESS
file, just before "charset", and properly headed with "kernpairs".

So I did that, but can see no difference in the printed (or PDF)
output. Is this possible to achive? Have I missed something?
