Please tell us the results which BSD sed produces. I want to check whether this is a bug, an imcompatibility, or a non-POSIX expression. BTW, do you know by chance the maintainer of BSD sed? The BSDs maintain by architecture, not by application. Since sed is not architecture specific, you would have to propose a modification to the base system of the respective BSD branch.
