I'm not at my home computer, and thus can't ply with the gabc or tex at the 
moment, but looking at the pdf I note that some translation words overlap.  
This is because the translation is not accounted for when determining 
horizontal spacing.  You have to manually assign the translations to various 
syllables to get nice spacing.  One thing that can help with this is the 
ability to center a translation under multiple syllables (allowing you to make 
better use of long syllables in the lyrics).  To do this put the whole text to 
be centered as the translation for the first syllable and put `[/]` as the 
translation for the last in the group.
