Hi Jason,

The OpenPGP checkbox will be removed in one of the next alphas.
For now, it lets you decide whether you want to use PGP or S/MIME to encrypt
your emails.
That's also why you can't encrypt or sign emails if you uncheck it, because it
checks if you have the S/MIME keys for the recipient(s).
