You are right, list-post tends to be the dominant header for the M-A sorting engine. It is possible to move a migrate a list archive, but it is kind of manual so you have to ask really nicely. Basically, what we do is move the archive to the new location, then insert a HTTP redirect at the old location. This keeps the gloabal search engines from getting too confused.
This is done shortly after the list has switched around the headers and started the new archive. The messages received during the time gap are either discarded or poured back into M-A inbox for re-archiving. In summary, make the switch, confirm the new archive, then drop an email to our support address (address is buried in the FAQ somewhere). I'll do the rest. Jeff PS.
