Thanks, that sort of answers my question; I see that mail-archive.com will automatically generate a new, separate archive when the list name changes.
So now I have new messages being archived at http://www.mail-archive.com/devel%40kannel.org/ and old messages archived at http://www.mail-archive.com/devel%40kannel.3glab.org/ (and similarly for "users" instead of "devel").
Is it possible to get the old archives rolled into the new ones?
Yes, if you have archives of old mailing list in mbox format, you can use bounce.pl script to feed them to mail-archive.com, and then ask Jeff to remove old mailing list archive.
