Hi all, It's a constant battle against the spambots. We do a lot of anti-spambot stuff already, but there are a lot of spam miscreants out there. Now that MHonArc 2.6 is out I will probably switch to (succumb to?) completely censoring the email addresses appearing in message bodies, i.e. replace them with something like [EMAIL PROTECTED]. I'll probably give the new MHonArc a few more weeks to cut its teeth in the wild before switching over.
-Jeff PS. It sucks to live in a world where such steps are necessary. Spam continues to be on the short list of things that threaten Mail-Archive's long term survival. >As an aside, I have noticed also that spammers go through the archives >looking for e-mail addresses. A lot of listserves put a footer on the >messages saying to send a blank message to some generated address in >order to unsubscribe. So the spammer sends a message to that address, >and some poor befuddled listserve subscriber finds himself unsubscribed! >This really isn't Mail Archive's problem; the only solution for that is >for listserves to eliminate that footer message or give alternate >instructions for unsubscribing. _______________________________________________ Gossip mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://jab.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/gossip
