The thread link on message pages doesn't always work. I've only seen it work once. For example, if you go to:
http://www.mail-archive.com/velocity-user@jakarta.apache.org/msg04310.html and click on the "Thread" hyperlink, you go to the bottom of the page http://www.mail-archive.com/velocity-user@jakarta.apache.org/thrd5.html#04310 which does not contain any messages related to msg04310.html at all.
