Status report: * The outage last week was due to a linux kernel crash in the virtual memory subsystem. I am now getting such a crash once every two months or so; and requires a reboot to recover. I didn't notice the crash right away, so it took time for mail-archive to come back on line. Mail queued on secondary MX will be held until the new primary hardware comes online.
* New hardware has been ordered. The usual stuff, more diskspace, more memory, more CPU power. I'm also able rachet down a little bit on complexity (fewer CPUs, fewer disks, etc.) which may result in additional reliability. The new hardware will take a few weeks to bring up to speed.
