Hello,

I'm creating an interactive application on a CD-ROM and
on a website. The application will contain 800,000 words in 4,000
entries, 1600 images and QT clips.

The Win/Mac CD-ROM will be developed in web technologies (browser
interface) and will have all of the content of the web site version. It
will be used off-line or on-line. Optionally, if on-line, the CD-ROM
content will be dynamically synchronized by displaying the updated
versions of entries.

I'm looking for an open text Java based search engine that will have
simple, Boolean, meta tags and multiple index capabilities. The engine
should run on a local CD-ROM on both platforms, Win and Mac, in both
modes, on- and off-line. Also, in the web version, the search engine
will reside on the server.

I've spent now 2 months reviewing CD-Web Publisher, SearchDisk,
DocFather and QuestAgent but none of them were upto mark either
in terms of price and/or performance especially on Mac

I would appreciate any pointer or help.

Regards,

Tam
