Hi Right now I'm watching the Honeycomb presentation video from the Google event <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfJuigJebRg>. I have to say I love the UI. I wonder whether there are any plans to make it possible to build Android apps using GWT. Or, in other words, will it be possible for web/GWT application to look/act like native one in Android? Will GWT and Android be brought closer together? Is there anything in progress?
GWT makes it possible to create desktop-like applications that run within a browser. My impression/opinion has been that we're moving towards the point when apps will run (in some kind of 'transparent' browser engine) on devices regardless of their OS. And I kinda expected Android to use/embrace/emphasize that approach, to blur the border between a web app and an installed app. (I do realize this presents some challenges, namely in security and performance.) Now it seems to me that either it goes a bit slower than I expected (and that developers will have to make the choice for couple more years), or maybe I got it all wrong...
