Hi V2 developers, If you're not subscribed to the Geo Developer Blog*, or the V3 developer mailing list, you may have missed some important news:
We've added support for shape editing to the V3 API: http://groups.google.com/group/google-maps-js-api-v3/msg/af3b6aeeb6f029ae I've heard many of you* say that this is the last remaining feature stopping you from moving your maps to the V3 API, so I'm super excited to see this feature released. This is also a gentle reminder that the V2 API is deprecated. In fact, we're about halfway through the deprecation period. V2 was deprecated on May 19, 2010, so the deprecation period will last until May 19, 2013. I'd strongly urge you to move your maps to the V3 API - there's many new features, a new look (as of last week), and it's under active development.
