There's a lot of confusion about Google forcing Gemini onto Android
users, but yes, it's very bad
Starting July 7, Google will be pushing Gemini down the throat of Android
users by default whether they want it or not. You can jump through hoops
to turn it off from various apps, but it's confusing for most users and
the email Google sent about this was also confusing as hell. I'll give
them the benefit of the doubt that it wasn't meant to be confusing, but
it was typical Google technospeak from the Bros who have no idea how
ordinary people live and work.
Bottom line, despite articles trying to put a positive spin on this change,
Google is forcing Gemini AI onto everyone by default rather than providing
affirmative opt-in. Yes, that's evil.
Here's an article that summarizes the situation pretty well.
