Sorry, I was thinking you were talking about the html template tags. HTML
comments <!-- --> are processed like any other html tag. Does one of the
following produce the results you are looking for:
{{ `<!-- <input value='{{.nonExistingData}}'> -->` }}
{{ /* `<!-- <input value='{{.nonExistingData}}'> -->` */ }}
