I certainly don't deny that India has held an independent foreign policy (as much as international politics could dictate). More so, I am proud of its support to the African and Asian countries that were a victim of colonialization. Having said that, the last few years have been nothing more than a disaster. You can lay it down to political compulsions in a changing world, but I for one refuse to believe that. I think that the current bunch of bozos that occupy the MEA have been caught up in imitating the policies of the West rather than strive for something more independent. We can badmouth the French all we want, and point to oil as an excuse for their defiance. But that certainly escapes the point. There are people who will die the worst of death.
